Keeping the whole film is check is very important. This was the conversion of the idea, from the storyboard to the 3D world.
I had many versions of the animatic along the way, but here are the major progressions/steps.

ANIMATIC 01
04/07/2016This was the first attempt and converting everything into 3D and it’s almost laughable. Clearly the story points weren’t all smoothed out yet and my use of 3D camera was very- uh I directly copied the storyboards and this was the final result. A good starting point but embarrassing I am sharing it! |

ANIMATIC 02
05/06/2016Here I smoothed out some of the bumps and refined the cameras filling the gaps. I was told to try and move the flashback sequence to the beginning in hopes that it might feel better. But as time progressed, I realized I would not be animating the sequence.

ANIMATIC 03
05/26/2016Some of my shots started to be animated and the first cycles were put as placeholders while they were being refined. Shots and camera moves being refined. |

ANIMATIC 04
07/20/2016
The world was refined, trees were placed in the scenes for aesthetic, and matching the scene preceding so there was a continuation through the project. Some shots are in early spline/blocking. Some are getting approved. Proper cycles added. The Flashbacks were also moved back to the middle as it seemed to make more sense to the story.

ANIMATIC 05
09/07/2016
One of the final animatics in the animation stage. There is one test rendered shot. Most of the animation near done, waiting for polish/refined spline. After this point, the animatics slowly added final renders you see in the final film. |
